How are carpets made and with what materials? And the washing changes depending on the carpet?
By JK-washing in Carpet Washing
There are different materials with which the carpets present in our
homes are made.
The value of a Carpet Cleaning is given first of all by the manpower and the construction
technique, and then also by the material with which it is built.
The Different Ways to Make a
Rug
Among the ways in which we make the carpets we have in our homes, we
want to remember the three main ones.
Hand-Knotted Rugs
The hand-knotted rugs represent the history of the rug. The first
hand-knotted rugs were made on looms already several centuries before Christ,
and have an oriental origin. The hand-knotted carpets are linked to the
invention of the frame, which in turn is divided into horizontal and vertical
frames. On the loom the warp is fixed, to which the knots are then fixed with
different knotting techniques and finally, to give a consistency to these knots
and fix them definitively, horizontal threads called weft are passed. In these
carpets the fringes are nothing but the continuation of the warp of the carpet.
These Carpet Cleaners are clearly the most valuable.
"Taftati" Rugs
Made from a fabric base (warp and weft or net) in which the tufts of
fiber are fixed. The main difference from hand-knotted rugs is that the fleece
(the part we walk on in a rug) is not fixed with a knot, but fixed with glues.
These rugs are also recognizable from the back, which is often covered
with a fabric that serves to cover the neckline.
Mechanical or National Carpets
The carpets made with mechanical frames, often also called national
rugs, are the majority of modern carpets, from carpets signed by the most
famous fashion houses, to the carpets that can be purchased in shopping
centers, such as for example the carpets used in children's bedrooms.
The Materials with Which the
Carpets are Made
For the materials instead we have different combinations and for each
of these it is necessary a proper washing,
just to preserve the carpet and return it perfectly clean to our customers.
Wool Rugs
It is certainly the most precious fiber, soft and warm, combining the
characteristics of naturalness and resistance. It is also a material that is
better resistant to fire and humidity. The latest trends see wool in first
place for the production of tricot-worked rugs and for luxury furnishings. But
in addition to the way in which the carpet is created, the thickness of the
wool must also be chosen: from satin to thick, up to some particular models,
tall and soft, in which to sink one's feet (or why not, one's body) .
Silk Carpets
It was used for carpets used by the Persian court and features pieces
of greater finesse and quality. The designs and embroideries recall the refined
art of the time. The ancient Persian rugs are difficult to recognize due to all
the copies that have been made over the decades, but a good indication to
understand their origin is to know the textures. The cotton Carpet Cleaning Coventry was made in Iran, Pakistan, China and
India; the wool one came from Afghanistan, the Caucasus, Central Asia and
Turkey; silk was used for certain pieces of great value made in the most
important centers of Iran, Turkey, China and India. But to get rid of all
doubts, the best advice is to go through the certified sales channels.
Carpets in Cotton, Hemp and
Jute, Sisal and Coconut
The fibers are made starting from the processing of herbs, leaves or
cellulose: sisal, rice fiber, jute, abaca, joint and coconut. Sisal, for
example, is a material obtained from the agave plant, a bit stiff and not
resistant to humidity, while the rice fiber is quite soft but does not like to
be colored, so it can only be found in nuance sand. The coconut is very
resistant and is used for highly frequented interlacing, even if it is famous
above all as a doormat.
Acrylic and Polypropylene Rugs
They are the most used, economical and resistant materials, besides
having characteristics similar to wool, of softness and softness. The carpets
are recyclable and easy to clean. It is important to have an eye on the label:
they must not have percentages of gums or chemical materials and the coloring
must be non-toxic.
